Using newer versions on 3DS Max, certain things aren’t happening. The flip thing at 3:38 isn’t happening. I select it, it doesn’t change color, and I press flip, nothing happens. Also the viewport menu is completely different now.

Wow! This is wonderful tutorial, thanks a lot! But I yet have a tiny problem: I made the jpg texture 1024×1024, But when I assign it to my box, texture seems low resolution… The answer should be simple I believe, but I still can’t solve the problem myself.

When i apply the material it appears as a tiny mosaic and i cant get it to look ok. It doesn’t show as a big figure on the plane, it looks like a mosaic with tiny repeated figures. Please help!

John Holme says:

you’re a ‘life saver’ – I’m 70 years old and been into 3ds max for only a few weeks. I filled my head with all kinds of tutorials on character modelling, rigging and skinning. I’m so confused after many kinds of approaches the tutorials have, but then I found this. Following you step by step made it all come clear to me – now I’m confident I’ll get somewhere, even if it might take me a while – so 1000 thanks for your effort and I put my trust in you :-)
