Here’s Part 1 of my guide to creating a low polygon/poly character model in 3ds Max. This method CAN be used to make ANY character. You just need to follow along with your own reference images or those found online like mine.

Using newer versions on 3DS Max, certain things aren’t happening. The flip thing at 3:38 isn’t happening. I select it, it doesn’t change color, and I press flip, nothing happens. Also the viewport menu is completely different now.
very great tutorial, clear voice and tackles a lot of techniques and tips.
Thank you so much! I just started working with 3ds max this semester and this helps a TON. You’re a life saver by any means and great at explaining as well. Thank you.
fantastic tutoring, thanks a lot 🙂
Wow! This is wonderful tutorial, thanks a lot! But I yet have a tiny problem: I made the jpg texture 1024×1024, But when I assign it to my box, texture seems low resolution… The answer should be simple I believe, but I still can’t solve the problem myself.
dude sick guide thanks

When i apply the material it appears as a tiny mosaic and i cant get it to look ok. It doesn’t show as a big figure on the plane, it looks like a mosaic with tiny repeated figures. Please help!
you’re a ‘life saver’ – I’m 70 years old and been into 3ds max for only a few weeks. I filled my head with all kinds of tutorials on character modelling, rigging and skinning. I’m so confused after many kinds of approaches the tutorials have, but then I found this. Following you step by step made it all come clear to me – now I’m confident I’ll get somewhere, even if it might take me a while – so 1000 thanks for your effort and I put my trust in you 🙂
What happened with the rest of this tutorial series? 🙁
