What is Premiere Pro?

With Adobe Premiere Pro CC you can start editing your videos in a professional environment. The software provides you with many tools such as managing your media, cutting clips, adding effects, mastering the audio and many more.

Getting started with a new piece of software is not that easy. So many buttons to remember and hidden features you just can’t find.

What will I learn?

In this course you will learn the fundamentals. That means; the important things! We’ll start off with setting up our project correctly. Next you’ll learn how to use the user interface. This will follow with the basics of cutting and slicing your clips and we’ll end by adding some fun effects to our clips. Once your masterpiece is complete, it’s time to export it with the correct settings to share it online or anywhere else.

Why should I follow this course?

Instructor Jordy: “I still remember the first time I launched Premiere Pro. I was scared at that point, afriad of not being able to learn all these features. After a couple of months I thought I knew the application well enough. But when I started in the filmschool, I realised I knew so little of this application. The fasted way to learn the application without missing anything important is by taking a class”.

Who is Jordy?

That’s me! Premiere Pro is the most active application on my computer as I am a professional filmmaker. I’ve been teaching Premiere Pro since 2006 on various online and local schools. With the experience of a very active user and teacher, I have learned which is the path to learn Premiere Pro.

FAQ

I have Premiere Pro CS6, can I follow this course?
Sure you can! This course has been created to get you started with the fundamental features that came from older versions.

Will I be able to create explotions and crazy visual effects after this course?
I’m sorry to let you down, but no. Premiere Pro is a cut and slice program. But it’s the core without your video editing process. Visual effects lay on top of your edit which is done in other applications and then brought to Premiere Pro.

Do I need a fast computer?
As you will learn the basics you don’t need a fast computer. But it will make editing much more pleasant once you can playback your footage smoothly.

Must I have video footage before I can take this course?
Nope, I’ve made it easy for you. In the course attachment you can find the same video footage as used within the course. There’s no copyright on it, so feel free to edit those clips and share it online

PostModern Filmmaking says:

Hi. Can you please help us all some creative solutions to doing the best possible sound on a film with literally a ONE PERSON crew?

Here’s some ideas. Please tell us what you think of them and if you could, add any thoughts, other or better ideas:
1. dialogue: Give each actor their own ZoomH1 and lav.
2. sound fx: Place lavs on actors (legs for footsteps, low sounds) arms (for doorknobs/higher up sounds) film two takes. one w/ video and no mics, one trying to do it identically w/ mics and no video. ( i know its not conventional, but could it work? )

other thoughts, are hiding mics/ hiding recorders either out of frame or in objects on set. or placing booms just off camera.

basically, how can we do sound w/ just one person? thoughts/your response is much appreciated. Thanks!
