Photoshop CC 2015 tutorial showing possibly the best technique to retouch skin in a photo. “Frequency Separation” retains the skin’s texture, while it removes blotches and imperfections. The result is flawless, realistic-looking skin without that “plastic”, overworked look.

Did not help me that much. I am working with a person with freckles, and this technique made his face look abnormal.
nicely explained thanks 🙂
Super helpful tutorial…I FINALLY kind of feel like I know what I’m doing with Photoshop. Thank you…new sub!
I appear to be having trouble replicating what you’re doing? It’s on the step where you type in the feather amount, then draw the lasso round the forehead and then gausian blur it.. (when i guasian blur, it doesn’t blur the spots etc. the image looks the same no matter what strength i try? am i missing something)
Looks like a great tutorial but unfortunately the steps do not quite work in Photoshop CC 2018 as in your video.
Really awesome tutorial. Very professional and straight to the point. Thank you so much
Would we have to create another copy for the rest of our editing or can we just work from the original?
You need to deselect the HiFreq Layer at 2:41 right before he selects the lasso tool. He fails to mention that.
Thank you so much. I love your Video !!
Great tutorial!
I swear Marty is some advanced AI developed by Zuckerberg.
Very easily explained! Thank you!
one of the best tutorials
super
Hello! Great tutorial Marty! Question, everything is working perfect, but when I get to the end of workflow, and I want to continue to remove blemishes, I activate the High Freq layer and use the spot healing brush. When I click over a blemish, it is removing the Gaussian blur. Any ideas?
2:24 I laugh every time haha! I rewatch it and still laugh!
I remember the first time I watched this and we did all that work and my face when he said “At this point it will look exactly the same” I was like what!? Lol
Select the lasso tool and select the “for-ed”
LOL
Great tutorial!
one of the best tutorials I have seen. easy and understandable.thx

My model has a darker skin tone, and when I apply the Gaussian Blur, it only makes the skin darker rather than removing blotchiness… Help! 🙁
