Is it possible to put a table in the header of an excel sheet?

Stuart of Blyth says:

One facility I’ve found invaluable is the ability to name cells and/or groups of cells. For example, you may want to calculate the selling price of a good given its cost price and markup. You would name a cell (say A1) with “Markup” and enter a value (say 1.25 for a 25% markup). With a cost price of £25 in cell B1 you would use the formula “=B1*Markup” in cell C1 to get the selling price.

In your VLOOKUP example, you could select the table and name it IDs. The formula would then be VLOOKUP(“Nancy”,IDs,2).

Using names makes the formulas more understandable – B1*Markup instead of B1*A1, for example. To enter a name, select the cell(s) and type the name into the box immediately above column A (which usually shows the cell address) followed by .

PS You accidentally said “columns” instead of “rows” at 4:43.

Could you give an example of when to use trick #3? Thank you

jayaxe79 says:

Just a small remark on the vlookup example: before drag down, probably it’s a good idea to use absolute cell reference in this case. Otherwise the reference lookup columns would also shift down accordingly, which is not what we want. Anyway, this video is great and has been quite an enlightening overview even though I know up to basic macros.
